Inspiration by natural forms and materials
Antony Gaudi
and Santiago Calatrava are both characterised
there design projects by the natural forms and functions. Gaudi’s Casa Batillo is inspired by the use of stone and natural
forms, which can be seen in some of his design work. Gaudi's usage of stone is inspiring the rail station material which made of stone as a sustainable material that is the theme of the project.
interplay between rhythm and structure
Calatrava as an architect and engineer
characterised his designs by rhythm and natural forms. He inspired by some of
Gaudi’s concepts which shows the relationship between the to architects but in
different design movements.
The theme of the light rail station is sustainability which
is the main concern globally. Anzac Parade is moved underground to reduce the
pollution of noise and toxic gas from cars that are surrounding UNSW and its accommodation
buildings. The main concept of this station is use clean energy source which is
the solar energy, by exchange or cover the roofs with solar energy boards.
